After nearly two decades of
waiting, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will
inaugurate the Thessaloniki metro, Greece's second city,
tomorrow at 12 p.m. local time. According to Kathimerini, the
ceremony will include Italian Transport Minister Matteo Salvini
as well as several European officials. The metro was built for
Elliniko Metro by a consortium of companies that included the
Italian Webuild, Hitachi Rail Sts, and the Greek Aktor. It will
be managed and maintained by the company Thema, which includes
the Italian Atm and the French Egis.
